Attack Ring (AR): Flying Defence

  • ”Weight”: 7 Grams

As the name suggests the Takara version of Flying Defence is able to fly. (However, Hasbro removed this ability and made some other changes, For more information see MOLD CHANGES) The width of Flying Defence is 8.84 cm wide (3.50”) and is too large to be thrown out of stadiums such as the Tornado Balance Type S and many others. For this reason it may be useful to use the Hasbro Version with a low base, such as Storm Grip Base, so it cannot be knocked of balance by an Upper Attacker easily. If this Attack Ring on a high base, when it is knocked off balance the Attack Ring will scrape across the stadium flaw and stop spinning. Flying Defence is quite breakable, another reason not to use in in important matches.

MOLD CHANGES

Hasbro removed the ability to fly, as well as removing the three attacking points, leaving a totality circular AR. For this reason the Hasbro mold can be used against spin stealers, when paired with a low base, see this example combo:

As it is perfectly circular Flying Defence is almost impossible to steal spin from.
