When in Attack Mode, the vents are open to allow a certain flow of air to be made between the inside of Duo and the outside. In theory, this is supposed to lure the opponent towards Duo Uranus, or repel it.

When in Attack Mode, the wall on the underside adds more weight to one side, so the 4D Metal Wheel as a whole is more prone to being destabilized, especially when hit. It relies on these wide movements to perform its Attack and destabilize the opposing Beyblade as well, however this aspect of the gimmick is mostly to its disadvantage.

In Stamina Mode, the air vents are closed and Duo is almost completely circular, indeed confering the 4D Metal Wheel impressive Endurance abilities. Since the walls on the underside of the Metal Frame are also then covering the holes, this mode ensures a more equal distribution of the weight along the whole perimetre of Duo, instead of concentrating all the weight at some specific locations on the circumference and leaving much lighter portions at a few places.

The Core is the heaviest part of the Duo 4D Metal Wheel. It carries the structure of the two cavities required for the mode change. The regions surrounding those empty sections in Duo are much more dense. The most hollow area is the hole where the wall from the underside of the Metal Frame gets placed when in Stamina Mode. There is only one other place where that small wall can be put for the Attack Mode, and that part is right on the left of the other cavity, both of them forming a 90° angle on the Core. This second hole is not as hollow, and by filling it, it therefore leaves a much emptier side on the Core, provoking imbalance easily.

This article is a stub! The next step is to write detailed reviews of the parts' performances based on extensive testing. To this end, please post a draft in The Beywiki Project forum. This article cannot be edited without approval past this point.

Duo Uranus 230WD

Number: BB-121
System: Metal Fight Beyblade
Type: Stamina

Face: Uranus

An eery impression is given with this Face: as a matter of fact, we can clearly distinguish a masked head, whose left half is also a skull. It's uncertain how exactly this relates to Uranus however. What is sure is that the Face mark is voluntarily divided in two, which can imply a split personality that is malevolent in both cases.

Duo is formed of series of spirals seemingly emitted by the centre, as if they were wind gushes. After all, Duo's gimmick is being either stabilized, or destabilized, so the design relates to the flow and the extent of movement the Beyblade can have.

Metal Frame

This part is simply circular with some relief here and there due to the spirals in its upper design. However, what is interesting about Duo's Metal Frame is the way it makes the mode change work. On its underside, there is a wall on only one part that can either stick out on the side or fit in by covering a slight hole in the Core.

In Stamina Mode, the slight hole in the Core is filled with the wall from the Metal Frame's underside and Duo is almost completely circular, indeed confering the 4D Metal Wheel impressive Endurance abilities. More importantly, weight is distributed a lot more adequately and equally around the circumference in this mode, causing no imbalance.

Core

Bottom: Wide Defense

Tip Comparison: SD, D, and WD
  • Weight: 0.7 grams

Wide Defense, as its name implies is the widest of the “Defense” series of Bottoms (D, SD, and now WD). This brings numerous advantages, but also some disadvantages when compared to the other “Defense” Bottoms. Because of its massive width that reaches the edge of the Bottom's perimeter, it is able to wobble at a significantly larger angle for a longer period of time than D or SD, and at a much lower spin rate. This can be advantageous in many battles, particularly those between two Stamina types when they are about to topple over; however, if you happen to have a weaker shot than your opponent who is using something such as Virgo DF145SD, WDs low spin rate towards the end of the battle will make it extremely easy for the opponent to knock it completely over. This low spin rate towards the end of the battle is created because in the process of wobbling at such a large angle, more friction is made with the stadium floor, thus decreasing its Stamina. This is all avoidable however if your shot is at least as powerful as your opponent, as the extra time it is able to spin on an angle will allow you to narrowly outspin your D or SD based opponent.

WD has significant defensive capabilities as well, but because it still uses a form of sharp tip, its friction with the stadium floor is decreased, which as a result makes it easier to knock around than something like RS which has much more friction with the stadium floor. WD does of course offer superior Stamina to RS which in rare cases would be an advantage, but RS more often than not has enough Stamina to outlast Attack types.

Use in Defense Customization

WD is arguably the best of the “Defense” series of Bottoms, and its effectiveness can be utilized in the custom Earth Bull AD145WD.
