Face: Quetzalcoatl
The Face depicts Quetzalcoatl, the Mesoamerican feathered serpent deity. This Face mark differs from both Metal System Quetzalcoatl Face designs, however. Though more closely resembling its first Face mark, this version has more colours, exaggerated traits, a more fierce design, as well as patterns in the sticker's background, inspired by the artwork of Mesoamerican civilizations.

4D Clear Wheel: Quetzalcoatl
*Weight: 2.6 grams

The Quetzalcoatl Clear Wheel is of a pale golden colour and illustrates two winged serpents with a head more like that of a cobra. Competitively, Quetzalcoatl has niche uses in Clear Wheel attack, which it does effectively to thwart opposing Beyblades of greater height thanks to the cobra heads that curve upwards, but overall, it is not necessary.

4D Metal Wheel: Death
*Weight: 43.6 grams

The gimmick introduced in this 4D Metal Wheel is that one of the two metal parts, the Metal Frame, can be flipped to form another mode. Death has no PC Frame, only metal pieces, which makes it one of the heaviest 4D Metal Wheels available.

Metal Frame
*Weight:
The Metal Frame of this 4D Metal Wheel is the piece that acts as the primary mechanism behind its Mode Change. It has four small indents which act as a locking mechanism when placed on the Core. On the Defense side it has eight shallow slopes with a reptile-like texture and the large slopes of the Attack mode connect perfectly with the Core's. On the Attack side, as previously mentioned, there are eight significantly larger slopes each with the face of a serpent sculpted in.

Core
*Weight:
As with any other Core in 4D, this part connects the Wheel with the Track. Its design is based on wings, so the combination of the Metal Frame and the Core indeed illustrate a winged serpent, which is the representation of Quetzalcoatl.

Like all 4D Metal Wheels, Death features a mode changing gimmick. It works by flipping the Metal Frame on the opposite side while the Beyblade is disassembled. The two Modes are:

----
* Attack Mode
If Death is set in Attack Mode, the Metal Frame shows details of several serpent heads with fangs, enhancing the term "Attack". This mode is in no way more useful than Defense Mode as it does not provide sufficient Smash Attack to be of any use in Attack Type customs, and its Recoil renders it useless when compared to Defense Mode for other areas.

* Defense Mode
If the Metal Frame is completely flipped to be in Defense Mode, this other side reveals a design of serpent scales, which relates to the term "Defense" and how animals defend themselves with their back, their scales, etc. Defense Mode's top half is also sloped, which reduces Recoil and is also an uncommon trait among Metal Wheels.
----

Defense Mode is preferred over Attack Mode in every aspect due its much smoother design, which provides much less Recoil. Death, in Defense Mode, was arguably the first to dethrone Basalt in terms of Defensive prowess: it may not have had the weight that Basalt did, but the fact that it had much, much less Recoil made it the better Metal Wheel. Without this Recoil, Death is much harder for any Attack Type to KO or for many Stamina Types to outspin, defeating most top-tier combinations in the latter category.

If the unbalanced Basalt wins because it can wobble and smash away the opponent’s spin while conserving its own rather than simply absorbing shocks, the balanced Death wins by shaving, or grinding, away the opponent’s spin instead using the relief created by the Metal Wheel's designs on the sides. While Death has not necessarily outclassed Basalt, it does earn a position as a top-tier Defense Metal Wheel. However, with the release of much heavier Attack parts such as Wyvang, Balro and Gryph, as well as defense parts like Revizer and Genbull, Death became outclassed. It can still be used to a certain extent of effectiveness in Defense, but it's nowhere near as sturdy as it once was.

Use in Defense Customizations
Death, in Defense Mode, can be put to great use in the following Defense combo: MF-H Death Aquario BD145RDF. Death’s low Recoil in tandem with the sturdy weight of BD145 and the exceptional grip of RDF form a remarkably resilient Defense customization with the ability to withstand ferocious attacks from the best Attack type customizations of its time.

Track: 125
*Weight: 1.0 gram
The 125 Track is a midway between the 105 and the 145 Tracks. Utilized in mid-height stamina combos, it is more difficult to destablize compared to 145 height stamina combos. It has declined in popularity as the choice mid-height track due to the release of gimmicked tracks of the same height, such as T125 and D125.

Bottom: Rubber Defense Flat
RDF is an odd combination of shapes to hypothetically form a tip with both Defense and Attack abilities. This Bottom consists of a very wide plastic encasing which holds a rubber tip with a large, flat surface and a small protuberance in the middle which ends in another flat point. The rubber, which constitutes the actual tip, comes very flush with the plastic structure that contains it. In actual performance, it is similar to CS in the sense that it can have an aggressive pattern and a Defensive pattern.

The release of RDF essentially made RS irrelevant, since it is just as effective, if not more, but also because of certain key differences. First, its superior height and better balance allows RDF to be used with the best defensive Track available at the time, BD145, without being hindered by floor scraping. Secondly, RDF has much more Stamina than RS, which was always an obstacle to the latter.

When shot in a standard manner, it is stationary, much like the S tip. When weak launched, it is similar to a worn RS' movement patterns which is usually a light circling around the center of the stadium. When banked, the outer plastic part of RDF comes into contact with the stadium causing instability and erratic behavior, much like an aggressive CS, but with more grip as it has a much larger surface area of flat rubber and plastic. When contact is made with the opposing Beyblade, RDF may tilt and fall onto its outer ring and begin an aggressive movement again, before regaining balance relatively quickly. Stamina-wise, it is a tad inferior to CS and should therefore not be used for Stamina purposes.

Wearing does occur with RDF, like any other rubber-based tip, and it is recommended you buy a mint one for optimum Defensive performance.

Use in Defense/Balance Customization
RDF can be utilized in the Defense/Balance customization MSF-H Wyvang Dragooon BD145RDF. RDF's grip, together with the heavy weight of BD145 negates Wyvang's recoil, and provides Dragooon the balance and precession it needs to outspin opponents in the opposite direction. The result is an incredibly powerful Defense customization which can easily weather down the fiercest of attack types.
Overall
Death Quetzalcoatl 125RDF was a welcomed release in the competitive community. While Quetzalcoatl and 125 are not overly useful, Death brought a potent alternative to an otherwise Basalt-dominated Metagame, and RDF offered a great Bottom for pure Defensive customs. Duo is generally better than Death for both Stamina and Defense, however it's considerably harder to aquire in comparison, and RDF is a staple. Every Blader should own at least one of this Beyblade.

NOTE: This article is for plastic compact customization. For information on customizing an HMS compact Beyblade, see HMS Compact.

A compact combo is a Beyblade which has the purpose of high spin velocity and balance. The most important factors in building a compact combo are the weight distribution of the Beyblade, along with the size and shape of parts.

Advantages of Compact Combos
Compact combos gain their advantage from being incredibly effective balance types. Not only that, they are very literally balanced; they are not easy to knock off-center. They are a sort of all-purpose Beyblade that can be used when you are at a loss for what to do, or if you don't want to overthink a strategy.

Weight Distribution
To build an effective compact combo, the Beyblade needs to be relatively heavy, and have the majority of its weight focused in the center of the Beyblade. The advantage of having this weight focused in the center gives it an incredibly high spin velocity, which combined with the proper compact parts, leads to better balance and decreased loss of spin when hit.

Choice of Parts
The choice of parts for compact combos is incredibly polarized; meaning, while there are several possible parts you can use, the choice for best parts is incredibly small. Here is a list of parts that you should use for a compact combo.

Attack Rings
* Tiger Defenser (Driger S, Jumping Base): This is one of the best ARs for a compact combo. It has a very solid weight, great balance, and it is small in size. It has good survival ability and also some mild attack power. This is the most common choice.

* War Lion (Galeon, BBA Balancer): This is the next most common choice for compact ARs. It has much more survival along with being more compact, leading to a higher spin velocity and therefore, more defense. The downside of this is that this AR has very poor attacking power, which luckily isn't too detrimental to a compact Beyblade's effectiveness.

*Wing Cross (Bistool, Frostic Dranzer, Gekiryu-oh): For the best performance, when choosing a Wing Cross AR for this combo, use Hasbro's Bistool. For more information on the mold variation, see the Bistool article. This AR is slightly less common and more recent to the scene than War Lion and Tiger Defenser, but it performs well. Wing Cross is one of the most balanced ARs available, and the Hasbro]] Bistool mold gives it more defense and survival ability.

Weight Disks
* Ten Heavy: This is the only WD you can use for a compact combo. It is the heaviest and smallest plastic-generation WD available.

Spin Gear
* Neo SG + Heavy Metal Core (Metal Driger): For compact combos, this is the only SG that you can use. You can see this part's advantage through this simple comparison:

* Neo SG + Heavy Metal Core: 9 grams
* Neo SG + Magnetic Core: 6 grams
* Neo SG + Metal Weight Core: 5 grams
* SG: 4 grams

Even over the second heaviest core, Heavy Metal Core still has 3 grams more. That number may seem small, but keep in mind that it is 7% - 10% more weight. Also, it contributes to heavy weight in the center of the Beyblade. That's why Heavy Metal Core is a must-have part.

Blade Bases
* See SG Semi-Flat

* Metal Ball Base (Draciel Metal Ball Defenser): This BB wasn't considered for a long time due to the fact that it is severely outdated, but it has a lot of potential in the compact arena. The metal balls in this base give it a good weight and strong centrifugal force, leading to a high spin velocity. Here are the weight measurements of this BB:

* Base Alone: 9 grams
* Metal Ball Base w/ one set of metal balls: 11 grams
* Metal Ball Base w/ two sets of metal balls (LEGAL): 13 grams

As you can see, even with one set of metal balls the weight is very good. With two sets, the weight is even higher, but the BB will lose some survival potential in the process.

The tip is a semi-flat, almost exactly the same shape as the SG Semi-Flat.

* Metal Change Base (Driger S): This BB isn't considered very often, due to its often aggressive movement pattern. However, it is a perfect choice for a compact combo. When standing straight, the metal tip has great survival. When tilted, the Beyblade will move in an attack mode. This strong survival and attack power take advantage of the compact combo's weight and spin velocity.

5-Layer Compact Combo
* AR: Tiger Defenser (Driger S)
* WD: Ten Heavy
* SG: Right Neo SG
* SG Core: Heavy Metal Core (Metal Driger)
* BB: [[Metal Change Base(Driger S)

This is one of the most common compact combos.

4-Layer Compact Combo
* AR: Wing Cross (Hasbro Bistool Mold)
* WD: Ten Heavy
* BB: Metal Ball Base (Draciel Metal Ball Defenser)

This combo was used by Noland to win the North American Championship.

Disadvantages of Compact Combos
There are some disadvantages to using a compact Beyblade.

* Balance Type: Being a balance type can be advantageous or disadvantageous depending on the situation. Against an incredibly specialized Beyblade, they may falter due to not having enough focus in the type necessary to win.

* Poor Survival: Compact Beyblades do not have the best survival, due to their heavy weight. Against attack and defense Beyblades, they will often manage very well. However, against a purely survival Beyblade, they will fail.

Using Compacts With Shooting Techniques
Compact combos a very well suited to a variety of shooting techniques.

* Sliding Shoot: Compact combos already have a very strong movement pattern. Sliding shot encourages this pattern further, causing the Beyblade to roam the stadium at a decent speed. Making contact within the first few seconds of the battle after being shot will deliver considerable damage.

* Gattyaki: A compact combo has a very heavy weight. Gattyaki is designed to hit the opponent before hitting the stadium. This shot combined with a heavy Beyblade is very good for OHKO. Because the entire force of the Beyblade's weight is directed at the opponent directly after shooting, without being slowed down by the friction of the stadium, it is almost guaranteed to deal a critical hit if it makes contact. The disadvantage of this strategy is that Gattyaki is a very difficult shot to aim correctly and will often miss. Fortunately, unless you overshoot a drastic amount, missing the Gattyaki shot will not be too detrimental to your battle.

Conclusion
Compact combos have been a staple in Beyblade play for a long time, and they're not going anywhere. They're strong and easy to use, and even in the hands of an unexperienced player they can win matches with ease. If your opponent is using a Beyblade that is not well planned, this is a good style of Beyblade to use to avoid over-thinking a match.
Attack Ring (AR): Tiger Defenser
* Weight: 5 grams

Tiger Defenser is one of the most popular AR selections in Beyblade. It has great survival ability due to its round shape; there are very few points of contact on Tiger Defenser that can cause heavy recoil. It has great defense ability due to its small size, leading to higher spin velocity and therefore, higher defense. It also has some attack ability due to its rounded spikes and small Upper Attack slopes.

Use in Survival/Zombie Customization
Using Tiger Defenser, you can create a strong survival combo. This AR does not take many heavy hits in battle. Here is an example:

* AR: Tiger Defenser (Driger S)
* WD: Wide Survivor
* SG: Left SG (Bearing Version) (Wolborg)
* SG Shaft: Bearing Base (Metal Dragoon Bearing Stinger)
* BB: Defense Grip Base 2 (Wolborg 2)

The small projections on Tiger Defenser can steal spin from the opponent. The round shape will not take recoil, so the Beyblade will have higher defense. However, if you want a Left-Spin survival combo with better defense ability, Galeon's War Lion is a better choice.

Use in Compact Customization
Because of Tiger Defenser's small size and high spin velocity, it is one of the most popular AR choices for compact combos. Here is an example:

* AR: Tiger Defenser (Driger S)
* WD: Ten Heavy
* SG: Neo-Right SG Heavy Metal Core (Takara Metal Driger)
* BB: Metal Change Base (Driger S)

As you can see, this Beyblade is not very different from an uncustomized Driger S. However, with just a few simple improvements, Driger S's strongest attributes can be exploited even further.

Availability in Hasbro Jumping Base
While Takara released Jumping Base as a stand-alone product, Hasbro released Jumping Base as a full Beyblade and gave it a recoloured Tiger Defenser AR. If you can't find Driger S, you can get Jumping Base for Tiger Defenser.

Weight Disk (WD): Eight Heavy
See Eight Heavy.

Spin Gear (SG): Right SG
See Right SG.

Blade Base (BB): Metal Change Base
* Weight: 5 grams

The BB of Driger S, Metal Change Base, has an interesting function. The tip is sharpest at its direct center, but flat on most of the tip. Because of this, you can use this tip as either an attack tip or survival tip.

When shot straight, Metal Change Base will land on the sharpest part of its tip. In this form, this BB has great survival, better than many bearing shaft BBs, such as Wolborg. However, if shot on a slant, the BB will land on the flattest part of its tip, causing it to move in an attack pattern. In this mode, Metal Change Base's movement is very quick and aggressive, somewhat like SG Metal Flat Base (Gaia Dragoon V). Metal Change Base provides an excellent mix of the two types.

Changing Modes During Battle
When a Beyblade donning Metal Change Base is hit in battle while in survival mode, it will often tilt and shift into attack mode. This will allow the Beyblade to deliver a returning attack to the opposing Beyblade before regaining its balance and shifting back into survival mode.

Using Sliding Shoot With Metal Change Base
Sliding Shoot causes the Beyblade to tilt when it is shot. Because of this, Metal Change Base will create a movement that sweeps through the center of the Beystadium, shifting from attack to survival mode constantly.

Use in Compact Customization
Metal Change Base is round with a low diameter and a metal tip that has balanced performance. Because of this, it is the perfect choice for a compact combo. Note: This is the same compact combo that was listed for Tiger Defenser.

* AR: Tiger Defenser (Driger S)
* WD: Ten Heavy

Rule Clarification: Tip Exchange
It is illegal to exchange the tip of Metal Change Base with any other tip.
This Beyblade is a case of an older model being useful all over. Both Tiger Defenser and Metal Change Base are indispensable parts with many uses. The Phantom Force re-release was a godsend for people who missed this Beyblade the first time around. You can practice every shooting technique with this Beyblade, and many Beyblades can be defeated by Driger S with little or no customization.
A Zombie customization is a Beyblade combo that is designed to steal spin from the opponent and have the "Life After Death" ability. They must steal the opposing Beyblade's spin because they can not last long on their own compared to Survival types. Zombies use specific parts in order for it to work together. The AR used on a Zombie are either compact or aligns with the WD in order to prevent any recoil from hits. The WD and SP used on this type of customization are usually circular in shape which allows a minimum amount of friction between the two Beyblades to let it steal spin as well as to help in the "Life After Death Ability". The BB and SG used determines which direction it steals spin in, what type of bearing and shaft are to be used, and whether or not to have a SP with it.

Spin Stealing
The most commonly known aspect of Zombie Beyblades, spin stealing refers to when your Beyblade uses the momentum of the opposing Beyblade to keep itself spinning. To do this, your Beyblade must be spinning in the opposite direction of the opponent's Beyblade. When the opponent's Beyblade hits yours, your Beyblade will use the rotation of the other Beyblade to propel itself to keep moving. In order to do this properly zombie blades must have a free spinning tip supported by bearings.

Life After Death
The origin of the name "Zombie" is not its ability to steal spin, but its "life after death" ability. The term "Life After Death" is used to describe a zombie's ability to continue spinning on its side after it has fallen over. If your Beyblade is still making complete rotations, it is still considered to be spinning. To have this ability, your Beyblade must be perfectly round at the points that touch the stadium floor when it falls over. For this reason, Wide Survivor is the best weight disk to use on zombie type combos.

Parts Selection
To build a true Zombie, there is a very specific list of parts that will work correctly. Below you will find a list of parts that will work with Zombie Beyblades along with their advantages and disadvantages.

Attack Rings
* Wing Cross (Bistool, Gekiryu-oh, Frostic Dranzer: This AR is very light and the weight is distributed evenly. Unfortunately, this AR can only be used in right spin, and only the rarer Mold One works well.

*Scissor Attacker (Metal Dranzer) : This AR is very compact and the three wings it has lines up perfectly with Wide Survivor, greatly contributing to it's ability to steal spin. Furthermore, in left spin, the three wings end in a smooth curve, reducing recoil and increasing spin-steal ability.

* Twin Horn (Gabriel): This AR has a very round shape and small notches to steal spin from the opposing Beyblade. It also has a small amount of smash attack that can occasionally knock out the opposing Beyblade. Unfortunately, this can also cause Beyblades using Twin Horn to recoil. It is important to note that the Hasbro version of Twin Horn was modified to support a Sub-Ring and thus, only the Takara version should be used for Zombies, while the Hasbro version is better used for Defensive Zombies.

* Tiger Defenser (Driger S, Hasbro's Jumping Base): This AR is very compact and has small points where it can steal spin.

* War Lion (Galeon, BBA Balancer): This AR is very compact and has small points where it can steal spin. Also, War Lion's free-spinning Sub-Ring prevents it from being hit hard by the opposing Beyblade.

* Turtle Survivor (Metal Draciel, Master Dranzer): Very light with perfect balance, and the four wings line up perfectly with Wide Survivor to steal spin. However, this AR is too fragile to see widespread use despite it's massive potential

Weight Disks
* Wide Survivor is the best choice for a Zombie combo. Its perfectly circular shape allows for life-after-death and lines up with most ARs well enough to steal spin. A spark disk version of Wide Survivor was released with sandpaper around the edge. This greatly increases its spin stealing ability.

* Wide Defense is the only other acceptable weight disk to use for a zombie combo. This weight disk became popular for zombie combos when players started using attack types to counter zombies.

Spin Gears
* Bearing Base (Metal Dragoon Bearing Stinger): Although this BB does not have an SG, the metal shaft can be placed in Bearing SG (Wolborg) and Bearing SG 2 (Wolborg 2) to allow compatibility with 4-Layer and 5-Layer customization. Hasbro's Bearing Stinger has a harder tip than Takara's. Serious Japanese players would import Hasbro's Bearing Stinger for their zombie combos.

* Bearing SG (Wolborg): The most basic tip selection. However, only the Takara version is suitable; Hasbro's Bearing SG has design flaws in the sharpness of the tip and the straightness of the shaft.

* Bearing SG 2 (Wolborg 2): Using this tip, you will sacrifice Survival for Defense ability. If you are facing a Beyblade with a significant amount of Attack ability, this tip may be a better choice than the others.

* Bearing Core (Burning Kerberous): Not to be confused with Wolborg MS's Bearing Core, this Bearing Core is inserted into a Neo SG. Bearing Core is unique in that it has three bearings: two in the shaft and one in the tip. The one in the tip cannot be replaced, but the ones in the shaft can. It includes one NSK shield bearing and one metal bearing; you must replace the metal bearing with an NSK shield bearing. The tip of Bearing Core is sharper than the previous tips, but it also has a lower angle that allows it to be shot into Attack-mode like a Metal Change tip.

Blade Bases
* Bearing Base (Metal Dragoon Bearing Stinger): This BB, like the SG of Burning Kerberus, can hold two NSK shield bearings. However, one of the included bearings is a metal bearing and must be replaced. Unfortunately, this BB can't be shot in left spin.

* Defense Grip Base 2 (Wolborg 2): A round an evenly-weighted base that serves itself well to all of the above-listed SGs except for Bearing Core. While this BB cannot use SP (Support Parts), it has life-after-death that cannot be matched by even the best Support Parts.

* Customize Grip Base (Dragoon V2): Dragoon V2's tip can be removed and Bearing SG, Bearing SG 2 and Bearing Core can all be inserted. This BB is the only way to use Bearing SG and Bearing SG 2 in conjunction with SP.

* Customize Bearing Base (Burning Kerberous): Only the Bearing Core can fit into this BB; however, it is sleeker and smaller than Customize Grip.

Support Parts
* Cross Survivor (Dranzer V2): These SP slope upwards to protect against Upper Attack, and have four symmetrical projections that can steal spin in either spin direction.

* Defense Ring (Voltaic Ape): These SP are perfectly round with small bumps running along the edge that will assist slightly in spin-stealing.

* Survivor Ring (Dark Series): These SP are perfectly round with three small wings that assist greatly in stealing spin. For the best performance, Survivor Ring should be used with a left-spin Beyblade.

Tuning
Tip Condition
The condition of your tip is very important in not only zombie types, but any type of combo. Generally, mint tips have greater survival, but are easier to knock out of the stadium, while worn tips have greater defense. This important depending on what kind of combo your opponent is using. Eventually, players started using attack type combos to beat zombies. This spawned the usage of parts such as Wide Defense and Defense Grip 2. Therefore, you should have tips prepared with different conditions to face different scenarios.

Bearing Tuning
NOTE: The following has been officially declared illegal under WBO rulings, and is being kept here for informational purposes.

To make a true zombie the bearings on your beyblade must be tuned. There is a grease inside the bearings that keeps them from rusting. This grease creates friction. To reduce the friction remove the grease. To remove the grease from your bearings you need paint thinner (or something that can produce the same effect), two cases that can close (Film canisters work very well, and if not, you can find suitable containers at any department store), and some kind of desiccant (something that absorbs the moisture in its surrounding environment, which keeps the humidity down and prevents rusting because metal requires water to oxidize). Pour the paint thinner into the case and then place your bearings in the case, and close it. Shake the case for five minutes. The paint thinner should change color. When this happens remove the paint thinner and pour in new paint thinner. Let it sit for about an hour and then remove the bearings. Place your desiccant in the other case and keep your bearings in it. Without the grease your bearings will rust exponentially faster which brings us to the next step.

Coating
To protect your bearings from rust you have to coat them in an oil like microlon (Microlon is used to create a dry-film lubrication that protects from rust and reduces friction.)
Pour the microlon in a bottle and place your bearings in. Let is sit for about an hour then remove the bearings. Dry your bearings with a hair dryer and repeat this process 3-5 times.

Seasoning
Even after being degreased there is still friction between the metal balls in the bearing. To reduce this connect your metal shaft to a motor and turn it on (The motor for remote control cars works)
When your bearings start to make noise the seasoning is complete. This can take from 1-5 days. Seasoning will make the metal balls in your bearing in to perfect sphere shapes.

The Community
Bearing tuning has become very frowned upon within the community. It has made the game broken and pretty much eliminates the fun of the game. Until Wolborg MS was released you could not win a tournament without a zombie type combo. The game became so broken that there have been talks of counting bearing tuning as illegal modification.

__TOC__

Unfortunately, this AR can only be used in right spin.

* Gyro AR (Bearing Gyros Magical Barancer, Bearing Gyros Magical Layer, Bearing Gyros Magical Stander): This AR is the perfect AR for Survival-type Beyblades. It has a perfectly round form with four small wings to steal spin. However, the Beyblades it originates from are incredibly rare.

It is important to note that the Hasbro version of Twin Horn was modified to support a Sub-Ring and thus, only the Takara version should be used for Zombies.

* Turtle Survivor (Metal Draciel, Master Dranzer): One of the less popular choices, it has great potential. It is very lightweight with perfect balance, and the four wings line up perfectly with Wide Survivor to steal spin.

Defense is the classification of a Beyblade which battles by staying relatively still, unmoved by the opposing Beyblade's attacks.
The purposes of defense types are to withstand heavy hits (primarily from attack types) and to not be knocked out of the stadium. Generally, there are two main types of defense type customizations: ones that rely on weight and ones that rely on grip.

Weight
Generally, the heavier an object is the harder it is to move that object. An example of a defense customization that relies on weight is:
* AR: Upper Dragoon (Master Dragoon , Kid Dragoon)
* WD: Wide Defense
* SG: Neo Right SG
* SG Core: Heavy Metal Core (Takara Metal Driger)
* BB: SG Metal Ball (Draciel S) with four metal balls

*AR: Smash Turtle (Master Draciel)
*WD: Ten Heavy
*SG: Neo Right SG (Heavy Metal Core) ( Takara Metal Driger)
*SP: Defense Ring (Voltaic Ape)
*BB: Customize Metal Change Base (Driger V2)

Additionally, more weight means higher spin rate.

Grip
Generally, the more grip (friction) an object has the harder it is to move that object. An example of a defense customization that relies on grip/friction is:
* AR: War Lion (Galeon)
* S-AR: War Lion (Galeon)
* WD: Wide Defense
* SG: Left SG (Bearing Version 2) (Wolborg 2)
* BB: Defense Grip Base 2 (Wolborg 2)

* AR: Samurai Upper (Samurai Changer MS)
* WD: CWD Free Survivor
* RC: Bearing Core 2 (Jiraiya MS)

These type of defense customizations utilize gripped tips. The rubbery grip creates more friction between the beyblade and the stadium floor making it harder to be knocked around.

Overall
In essence, defense types are made to beat Attack types. Extra weight or more friction between the stadium floor and the beyblade definitely help to withstand heavy hits from attack types. However, defense types fall prey to Survival types. Since they are so heavy (or there is an increase in friction), defense types don't spin for very long, whereas survival types are lightweight and designed to spin for longer.
Rdf3http://wiki.worldbeyblade.org/index.php?title=Defense&diff=13451Defense2014-11-10T12:23:59Z
Rdf3: /* Weight */
