Flame Byxis 230WD is the first Beyblade in the Maximum Series. Flame Byxis 230WD's "gimmick" is the "maximum height" of its Track.

Face: Byxis
The Face depicts Pyxis, one of the 88 constellations in space. Pyxis represents the mariner’s compass.

Clear Wheel: Byxis
* Weight: 2.7 grams

Byxis was originally released in a turquoise green color. It is overall round in shape, and has four arrows. There are two large arrows, on which stickers can be placed with the remaining two arrows having a dark blue color. The Clear Wheel represents a compass, with four circular symbols to represent North, South, East, and West. Byxis’s unique shape meanwhile allows it to be used in conjunction with certain Metal Wheels to expose their contact points more prominently.

Use in Attack Customization
Byxis exposes Vulcan’s contact points to maximize its Smash Attack capabilities in the customization "MF Vulcan Byxis 85RF".

Metal Wheel: Flame
* Weight: 32.5 grams

Flame is predominantly circular, with two small spikes and two additional smaller gaps on its circumference. The Wheel is relatively thin throughout, with the very edge of the Wheel being slightly thicker. Due to the design of Flame where the Wheel’s perimeter is raised slightly, more of the Track below is exposed compared to other Wheels, hence making it easier for other Beyblades to strike its Track. This significantly reduces its Defense capabilities. However, the raised perimeter allows slightly more wobbling time, as the raised track reduces floor scraping.

Use in Stamina customization
Flame can be utilized in the outclassed Stamina customization, "Flame Bull 85WD".

Track: 230
* Weight: 4.1 grams

230 is the tallest Track released thus far. 230 is part of the Maximum Series, and is labeled as the Maximum Height for Tracks. 230 has six indents near the top of the Track that sharpen downwards to about the half of the Track. 230 is rounder and thicker than regular Tracks with no gimmicks, in order to protect it structurally as it comes into regular contact with opposing Wheels. Its round and smooth shape results in significantly less recoil than if it were based on the traditional hexagonal Track shape. Since 230 is so tall, it can wobble at great lengths for extra Stamina, defeating various Stamina customizations with lower Tracks. From a defensive viewpoint, it uses its height as an advantage to protect itself from low incoming Attacks, by protecting the Metal Wheel from major contact while using the reinforced plastic to absorb most of the shock. As a result of this, 230 can defeat most low Attack customizations under the 120 height when paired with other top-tier Defense parts.

230 also has some notable weaknesses, however. As a Defense Track, 230 is extremely susceptible to tall Track Attack types in the opposite spin direction such as MF Lightning L Drago BD145LRF and MF Gravity Perseus BD145RF. Additionally, TH170 at 220 height is successful against 230-based customizations, while also offering height-based versatility at the same time.

Use in Stamina customization
230 can be put to use in the Stamina customization Scythe Bull 230D. D is a superior choice for 230 because it retains balance more easily than WD.

Use in Defense customization
230 is used in the staple Defense customization MF-H Basalt Bull 230CS: its height combined with its weight make this a difficult opponent for low height
Attack customizations to defeat, as they cannot make significant contact to deliver knockout blows.

Bottom: Wide Defense
* Weight: 0.7 grams

Wide Defense, as its name implies is one of the widest of the “Defense” series of Bottoms (D, SD, WD, PD, EWD). This brings numerous advantages, but also some disadvantages when compared to the other “Defense” Bottoms. Because of its massive width that reaches the edge of the Bottom's perimeter, it is able to wobble at a significantly larger angle for a longer period of time than D or SD, and at a much lower spin rate. This can be advantageous in many battles, particularly those between two Stamina types when they are about to topple over; however, if you happen to have a weaker shot than your opponent who is using an SD-based customization, WDs low spin rate towards the end of the battle will make it extremely easy for the opponent to knock it completely over. This low spin rate towards the end of the battle is created because in the process of wobbling at such a large angle, more friction is made with the stadium floor, thus decreasing its Stamina. This is all avoidable however if your shot is at least as powerful as your opponent, as the extra time it is able to spin on an angle will allow you to narrowly outspin your D or SD based opponent.

WD has some defensive capabilities as well, but because it still uses a form of a sharp tip, its friction with the stadium floor is decreased, which, as a result, makes it easier to knock around than something like RS which has much more friction with the stadium floor. WD does of course offer superior Stamina to RS which in rare cases would be an advantage, but RS more often than not has enough Stamina to outlast Attack types.

Use in Stamina customization
WD can be utilized in the Stamina customization Burn Bull 85WD.

Gallery
Overall
Flame Byxis 230WD contains very useful parts. When released, 230 silenced a great majority of previously dominant Stamina, Defense and Attack combos. While it is now outclassed by TH170, 230 is a more easily found alternative that still retains one of the most important elements of TH170; its height. Flame Byxis also comes with WD, a top-tier Stamina Bottom. Every Blader should at least own one of this Beyblade.
}}

__TOC__

Face: Libra
The Face on this Beyblade depicts Libra, the seventh astrological sign in the Zodiac. Libra’s symbol is The Scales, and this motif is featured on the Beyblade’s Face and Clear Wheel.

Clear Wheel: Libra
*Weight: 2.8g
The regular release of Libra is a translucent green, featuring scales on opposite sides.

Mold Variations
The original mold of Libra does not fit Metal Wheels correctly, resulting in a loose fit and rattling. This was later rectified in the Hybrid Wheel Reshuffle Set (Stamina & Defense) release.

Metal Wheel: Flame
*Weight: 32.5 grams
The Metal Wheel Flame was first released with Flame Sagittario C145S. It is predominantly circular, with two small spikes and two additional smaller gaps on its circumference.

Although outclassed, you can use Flame in the Stamina customization Flame Bull AD145WD

Track: Tornado 125
*Weight: 1.7 grams
T125 has four upward-facing wing protrusions spaced apart widely. The Track is designed to work in a similar way to DF145, although the effect it produces is negligible. The performance of this Track is similar to D125, and as a height, is generally overshadowed by CH120.

Use in Attack Customization
T125 can be utilised in the combo - MF Gravity Perseus T125 RF.

Bottom: Eternal Sharp
*Weight: 1.0 grams
The Eternal Sharp tip features a free-spinning tip attached to a metal shaft which is held by the Bottom. The part was one of the most heavily anticipated parts in the MFB lineup when first announced, but ES is actually a hugely disappointing part in terms of performance.

Firstly, ES lacks a metal bearing, which would significantly reduce the friction between the free-spinning tip and the rest of the Bottom. All of the best free-spinning tips, notably Bearing Core, had NSK Shield bearings which allowed unhindered spin.

Secondly, the tip shape of ES is not conducive to optimum Stamina; the sharp nature of the Bottom means it is easily destabilized. As all Sharp tips do, Eternal Sharp also has trouble regaining balance, hence making this a poor choice for Stamina. That said, ES still remains superior to BS and S as Stamina Bottoms.

Overall
Flame Libra T125ES only adequate part is Flame, which can be obtained from the infinitely more useful Flame Sagittario C145S. As a result, you should only buy this Beyblade for collection purposes.

__TOC__

Face: Sagittario
The Face on this Beyblade depicts Sagittarius, the ninth astrological sign in the zodiac. Sagittarius is the Archer, and this motif is prevalent in its Wheel’s design.
This Face is manufactured as blank, and comes with 2 Face Stickers.

Clear Wheel: Sagittario
*Weight: 2.8g
The regular release of Sagittario is a yellow, translucent piece. It has several notches and protrusions. The design is loosely based on the original Sagittario, which features the two bow and arrows.

Metal Wheel: Flame
*Weight: 32.5 grams
The Metal Wheel Flame was first released with Flame Sagittario C145S. It is predominantly circular, with two small spikes and two additional smaller gaps on its circumference.

Flame Bull DF145SD was a competitive Stamina customization, however it has been outclassed by Burn Bull DF145SD.

Track: Claw 145
*Weight: 3.2 grams
C145 has three wings which extend outwards, each separately joined onto the underside of the Track. These are free moving, and hence when the Beyblade is launched, these point outwards due to spin velocity. Their free moving nature make them very effective for defensive purposes, as they are able to withstand low hits to the Track without significant spin loss. Furthermore, the Track is significantly heavier than non-gimmicked Tracks such as 145, providing extra weight essential for Defense. As such, the Track is an essential part for current Defense customizations. But as the beyblade wobbles, the claws might have impact with the floor causing loss of balance, severe loss of stamina or resulting in the beyblade stops spinning.

Use in Defense Customization
When used in MF Earth Bull C145RS, the “claws” which extend outwards provide a very significant protection against low attackers such as Quetzalcoatl 90RF. However, low attackers such as Quetzalcoatl 90RF have been outclassed, therefore C145 sees very little use, and has been replaced as a top-tier defence track by GB145 or 230.

Bottom: Sharp
*Weight: 0.6 grams
Sharp was released as Spike in the Hasbro release. The Sharp Bottom offers very little movement and as such provides no attack potential. The pointed tip allows for very little friction between the Bottom and the stadium surface, which helps prevent the loss of spin velocity. However, due to the fine nature of the tip, the Bottom is easily knocked off balance, and hence is outclassed by superior alternatives such as D or SD.
Overall
Flame, as a Wheel, is a decent Stamina part, but the most important part by far of this Beyblade is C145. It offers unrivaled Defense capabilities against low Attack types, however, there is a lack of low top-tier attack type combinations in the MFB metagame, causing it to be outclassed. This Beyblade should only be bought for personal or collection purposes.
Note: Cancer and CH120 were originally released in Random Booster Light Vol.1 Mad Cancer CH120FS as the "rare" Beyblade, but because both of Mad Cancer's unique parts were re-released as a non-Light Wheel Beyblade, we have chosen to publish this article under the name of its regular Booster release, Dark Cancer CH120SF instead of the original release, Mad Cancer CH120FS.

__TOC__

Name Change
Dark Cancer was re-named Dark Gasher for Hasbro's release, and subsequently had the word "Cancer" removed from the Face, and a new purple design behind the original Face design.

The main reason for the change from "Cancer" to "Gasher" is because Hasbro believed that no parent would buy their child a product named "Cancer"

Face: Cancer
The Face on this Beyblade depicts Cancer, the fourth astrological sign in the Zodiac. Its Zodiac symbol is the Crab.

Clear Wheel: Cancer
*Weight: 3.0 grams
The Cancer Clear Wheel featured in Random Booster Light Vol.1 Mad Cancer CH120FS is of a brighter red, while the BB-55 Booster version is slightly darker. Both are identical in shape and weight. The slopes on the wheel allow it to be the best Clear Wheel for Destabilizers, and the Hasbro release of Cancer (see other version) has made it the third heaviest Clear Wheel in MFB, giving it some use in defense.

Use in Destabilizer Customizations
Cancer can be used in the top destabilizer customization Flame Cancer 90SF.

Metal Wheel: Dark
*Weight: 31.4 grams
Dark has twelve spikes facing the clockwise direction. These protrusions are closely packed together with minimal space between each, resulting in an overall round shape. This shape hinders the Metal Wheel in two ways: its protrusions are not pronounced enough to provide sufficient Smash Attack, while the perimeter is interrupted too frequently for sufficient Stamina. Additionally, its weight is distributed over too large a surface area, but Hasbro's Dark has proven to have decent defense capabilities.

Track: Change 120
*Weight: 2.7 grams
CH120 is without a doubt this Beyblade's most useful part. This Track is unique as it features a height-changing gimmick. The user is allowed a choice of using 120 or 145 as the Track's height. This is done by rotating the bottom portion of the Track and pulling/pushing the central part out/in, and then rotating the bottom portion back to lock the height. Importantly, this can be done between each round of a match, as it does not involve any part-swapping.

The advantages of this Track are plentiful. Its most obvious benefit is allowing the user to change the height of their Beyblade between rounds; this means that the user can adapt their strategy to counter the opponents during a match. The below customization, Libra CH120RF, uses this function to great effect.

Furthermore, CH120 is currently the only Track featuring a 120 height. This height is useful for many Attack types.

----
Note: The Hasbro version of CH120 has difficulty staying at the 145 height and often reverts to the 120 height mid-battle. Therefore, it is recommended that the TAKARA-TOMY version be used over the Hasbro version in all situations where the 145 height is intended to be used.

Use in Balance Customization
Long before Libra was banned, it surprisingly found use in a very specific Balance customization; in fact, it was really the only competitively viable Balance customization at that point in time. The custom is Libra CH120RF. Here is how it performed against the current staple customs of the time:

*Versus Virgo DF145D -- use 120 height
Even though Libra is the heaviest Wheel ever created, because its weight is focused around the outside, it is still quite agile with RF. On its own, Libra is not a very effective Smash Attack Wheel, but its weight distribution in combination with the fast moving RF allow it to achieve an astonishing 90% win rate against Virgo DF145D. 120 height must be used in order for the Metal Wheels to make contact or it won't work.

*Versus Quetzalcoatl 90RF -- use 145 height
By switching to 145 height, the Track will absorb all of the hits dealt by Quetzalcoatl. The weight of Libra combined with the grip of RF give it enough defense to withstand most attacks, and again, the win rate is 90%.

*Versus MF Libra C145WB -- use 120 height
The win ratio against the top tier Defense combo isn't that great -- only about 60% -- but this still isn't bad, considering how strong it is against the other two types. If you can avoid using this combo against Defense-types, you should, but if you're forced into that situation you can win with a perfect shot and a little luck.

To effectively use this custom, you absolutely had to be able to perform Sliding Shoot because the window for landing a successful attack was much smaller than with other Storm or Quetzalcoatl-based Attackers. A skilled Blader could use this customization as an answer to almost anything that is thrown at them. However, during the time Libra was banned, this custom's use diminished greatly due to the multitude of parts that were released in its absence. It is still usable against Attack types, and Stamina types on lower Tracks, but it is nowhere near as versatile as it once was.

Use in Attack Customization
MF Lightning L Drago CH120RF is a top-tier Attack customization. Use whichever height matches up best with the opposing Beyblades Wheel. This will allow Lightning (Upper Mode) to make optimum contact with opposing Beyblades.

Use in Defense Customization
CH120 can be used as an alternative to other Defense Tracks such as C145; MF Earth Aquario CH120RS (145 mode) is a viable Defense customization.

Bottom: Semi-Flat
*Weight: 0.6 grams
SF is is a sharp tip with a flattened end. As a result, SF displays a combination of Attack qualities and Stamina qualities, moving in a semi-aggressive pattern. Because of this however, the two attributes are compromised, culminating in an average performance in both categories. It produces a movement pattern that, while it is aggressive, is much slower than any Flat Bottom. The increased friction with the stadium floor due to the wider tip both increases its Defense and Stamina in comparison to a bottom similar to S or ES. However, it is in absolutely no competition with bottoms similar to WD for Stamina or RS for Defense. Semi-Flat is meant to be used in Balance type Beyblades, and as mentioned, exhibits aspects of several types, however it excels in none and thus is essentially useless.

SF's only mildly effective use is in Destabilizer customs where the low Track used along with the balance of qualities allows the custom to destabilize the opposing Beyblade.

Use in Destabilizer Customizations
While mostly outclassed in other aspects, SF can still be used in the top destabilizer customization Flame Cancer 90SF.

</gallery>

Overall
Dark Cancer CH120SF's defining part is CH120, an exceptionally useful Track which can be used in a whole host of customization possibilities. While Dark and SF are relatively useless parts, CH120 makes this a more than worthwhile purchase. Every Blader should own at least one of this Beyblade.
