Hasbro released this beyblade under two different names:
*Cerberous
*Howling Spirit

Attack Ring (AR): Triple Attacker
* Weight: 7 grams

The AR of Burning Kerberous is very unique in that each of its wings perform a different type of attack. The thickest wing performs Spike Attack, the next wing (clockwise) performs upper attack, and the wing counter-clockwise from the Spike Attack wing performs Force Smash Attack. This AR can be used to differentiate between the different types of attack, but for competition purposes the AR isn't considered in serious gameplay.

Weight Disk (WD): 10-Wide
See 10-Wide

Spin Gear (SG): Neo SG Right (Double Bearing Core)
This is the prized part of Burning Kerberous. The Double Bearing Core contains two bearings (hence its name) and provides very good endurance. The tip is similar to the tip of Metal Change Base (Driger S); when the beyblade is shot at the center, the tip has very high endurance, and when the beyblade is shot at an angle, the tip moves around in an attack pattern. The beyblade also switches between attack and endurance during a battle. The bearing case can only hold one other shaft, Wolborg 2's shaft.

Sample combination:
*AR: Bearing Gyros AR
*WD: Wide Survivor
*SG: Neo Left SG (Double Bearing Core)
*SP: Survivor Ring (Dark Series
*BB: Customize Grip (Dragoon V2)

This combination provides great endurance. The AR, WD, and SP work in unison to spin steal effectively, while the Double Bearing Base provides the endurance.

Support Part (SP): Cross Attack
* Weight: 2 grams
This SP is used for smash attack, but it is not very efficient, due to the shape of the projections. Other SP parts outclass it, like Fin Tector (Draciel V2)

Blade Base (BB): Customize Bearing Base
* Weight: 4 grams (10 grams with Double Bearing Core)
This Blade Base can only house the Double Bearing Core. Only the shaft of Burning Kerberous and the shaft of Wolborg 2 can fit into the Double Bearing Core. Therefore, there are only two ways the BB can be used. The blade base can be used with the Burning Kerberous shaft inside the bearing cases, which has great endurance, or it can be used with the Wolborg 2 shaft, which stays fixed when placed in the BB. The Wolborg 2 shaft, when fixed in place, is used for attack combinations.

Overall
This beyblade has many uses in Zombie/Spin Stealing combinations. The Double Bearing SG is an upgrade from the single bearing SGs, giving the zombie/spin stealing combinations more endurance. It is disappointing that only the Wolborg 2 shaft and Burning Kerberous shafts can fit into the bearing cases.

* Weight: 2 grams

This is the prized part of Burning Kerberous. The Double Bearing Core contains two bearings (hence its name) and provides very good endurance. The tip acts like the tip of Metal Change Base (Driger S); when the beyblade is shot at the center, the tip has very high endurance, and when the beyblade is shot at an angle, the tip moves around in an attack pattern. The beyblade also switches between attack and endurance during a battle. The bearing case can hold many other shafts, advantageous since the bearing case contains two bearings, compared to the single bearing in other bearing cases.
The Cross Spiker AR has 8 points of attack, or spikes, that comes out from the center. The four larger points has Smash Attack in right spin while it has Spike Attack in left spin. The other four smaller points of the AR are in a triangular shape similar to that of the Cross Attack SP (Burning Kerberous). Because of how the smaller spikes get in the way, it if almost impossible for the Smash or Spike attacks to work efficiently. There are many better choices of ARs for Spike or Smash attacks.
Bit Protector (BP): Heavy Metal Emblem
The Bit Protector of this Beyblade is Heavy Metal Emblem. It is the first mould verson of Bit Protectors.

Attack Ring (AR): Advance Balancer
* Weight: 15 grams
This attack ring has a gear shaped metal sub-ring. This subring has a perfect circle form- able to mantain good defence. The gear shape makes it very good for stealing spin. It is able to steal spin almost perfectly. The ABS caul has 3 wings, about the same diameter as the metal subring. The three small spikes between these wings have very little effect on the AR. Advance Balancer has quite good balance due to its form. It can be seen as an upgrade from the Metal Saucer (Gaia Dragoon MS) attack ring- although it uses the same Metal Frame, the ABS caul has been designed to prevent the Metal Frame from rattling.

Another advantage is weight. This AR is about 1g heavier than Metal Saucer (Gaia Dragoon MS). The increase in weight comes from the ABS Caul- while Metal Saucer has a hollowed ABS Caul, Advance Balancer's ABC Caul is almost completely solid. The areas underneath two of the small spikes are hollowed out, but this does not apply for the third spike.

Use in Spin Stealing Customization
The main usage of this AR is for spin stealing combos. You can change your spin direction just by loading the G-Winder through the other slot in the shooter. Here is an example:

* AR: Advance Balancer (Advance Averazer)
* WD: Circle Wide
* RC: Bearing Core (Wolborg MS) or Bearing Core 2 (Jiraiya MS)

Select your core depending on the situation. If you expect to see more attackers and older stadiums or Tornado Balance Type S, you should select Bearing Core 2 to prevent knock out. If you expect to see defence or survival type Beyblades and stadiums like Tornado Balance or Tornado Attack, you should select Bearing Core as it has better survival than Bearing Core 2.

Use in Survival Customization
This is another survival type customization. However, the main purpose of this combo is to counter upper attackers. The AR has quite good balance. CWD was chosen to defend against lower Beyblades. A heavier CWD would allow for a higher spin rate, as with the Metal Sharp core.

* AR: Advance Balancer (Advance Averazer)
* WD: CWD 17g (Sea Dragon) Reverse Defense (RBA4 Secret Prize CWD)
* RC: Metal Sharp Core (Advance Eterner)

Weight Disk (WD): Circle Balance
See Circle Balance.

Running Core (RC): Metal Semi-Flat Core
* Weight: 3 grams

This core can be very useful, but is overshadowed by the Metal Change core (Death Gargoyle MS). The main advantage of this core is that it has a controllable attacker movement. Unlike Metal Change core (Death Gargoyle MS), in which the attack movement is relatively fixed once it goes into the center of the stadium, this core can continue to hit the center again and again. As a result, while Metal Change core may waste energy by riding the tornado ridge once struck out of the center by a Survival type Bey, Metal Semi-Flat core is less likely to do so. However, Metal Semi-Flat core has much less Attack and Survival capabilities as compared to Metal Change core (Death Gargoyle MS). Metal Semi-Flat core is an upgrade on Semi-Flat core (Driger MS). Changing the material to Metal is generally an improvement as compared to plastic. However, the tip mould is different. Semi-Flat core (Driger MS) has a much narrowed diameter, as compared to Metal Semi-Flat's 2.5mm tip diameter. Metal Semi-Flat has a lot of movement. It can keep on attacking throughout the match. However, it tends to go into survival mode towards the end of the match. As an attacker core, it is relatively high, so Force Smash can be more worthwhile.

Use in Compact/Attack Customization
This custom is based on spin rate. It is able to keep on attacking the opponent continuously.

* AR: Metal Ape (Magical Ape MS)
* WD: Circle Heavy
* RC: Metal Semi-Flat core (Avance Averazer)

Use in Survival/Wobbler Customization
You should set the AR depending on the opponent's height for this combo.
*AR: Advance Balancer
*WD: Circle Balance
*RC: Metal Semi-Flat core

There is a quality control error that causes some Metal Semi-Flat Core tips to spin free. This error is not a bad one. It will improve survival and allow it to retain its wobbling position even longer.

Overall
Advance Averazer is the first of the Advance series and makes a lasting impression. The performance of this Beyblade is higher than expected. It is also the best Beyblade to demonstrate the strength difference between plastic and HMS. This is one of the better Balance type Beyblades, with good attack and survival at once. With high speed movement and spin-stealing abilities, it is a good buy.

This custom is based on spin rate. It is able to keep on attacking the opponent continuously.

Overall
Advance Balancer is the first of the Advance series and makes a lasting impression. The performance of this Beyblade is higher than expected. It is also the best Beyblade to demonstrate the strength difference between plastic and HMS. This is one of the better Balance type Beyblades, with good attack and survival at once. With high speed movement and spin-stealing abilities, it is a good buy.
Attack Ring (AR): Advance Balancer
* Weight: 15 grams

* WD: Circle Wide

* WD: Circle Heavy
* RC: Metal Semi-Flat core (Avance Averazer)

Use in Survival/Wobbler Customization
You should set the AR depending on the opponent's height for this combo.
Advance Attack
Circle Balance
Metal Semi-Flat core

There is a quality control error that causes some Metal Semi-Flat Core tips to spin free. This error is not a bad one. It will improve survival and allow it to retain its wobbling position even longer.

Death Gargoyle MS was released by Hasbro as Dark Effigy MS

Bit Protector (BP): Gargoyle Emblem
The Bit Protector of this Beyblade is Gargoyle Emblem. It is the first mould version of Bit Protectors.

Attack Ring (AR): Circle Upper
* Weight: 20 grams

The Attack Ring of Death Gargoyle MS is Circle Upper. This was the first major upper attack AR to be produced, and immediately dominated tournaments. This AR is larger than most HMS ARs; this is a good point. Such a wide AR has very good attack range; it's hard to avoid being hit by it. The Metal Frame is almost a perfectly circle, and surrounds the entire outer rim of the AR. A circular-shaped AR has a tendency for good defense. Also, having all the weight focused to the outer rim helps the momentum, increasing its early defensive capabilities even more.

However, the most important point of this AR is its Upper Attack. Just by examining the slope (which is roughly a 35 degree angle), we can easily tell that it has a lot of lifting power. The large rim leading up to it makes it easier to catch the opponent. You can upper-KO your opponent very easily; It's hard to escape this AR's upper attack. In left spin, this AR has two kinds of attack: Smash attack and Force Smash. There are notches at the highest point of the upper attack slopes that will allow for smash attack. The end of the reverse side of the upper attack slopes has a very steep force smash slope. So far, we've concluded that this AR has wide attack range, good defense, Upper Attack, Smash Attack, and Force Smash Attack.

Mould Differences
The balance of this AR varies. You see, there are two molds of this AR; old mold (original and ACT2 versions) and the new mold (ACT3 version). You can see the comparison of these two below. The red Circle Upper is the old mold from ACT2. The light blue Circle Upper is the new mold from ACT3.

Old mold Circle Upper has more survival. New mold Circle Upper has its own special use, with its "wobbling tendency." You can build a Wobbler combo with this AR. It is important to consider the usefulness of the new mold. Wobbling smash attack is very strong.

Use in Upper Attack Combos
Here is a basic use of an upper attack combo using Circle Upper.

* AR: Circle Upper (Death Gargoyle MS)
* WD: Circle Wide
* RC: Grip Flat Core Dragoon MS

Weight Disk (WD): Circle Heavy
See Circle Heavy.

Running Core (RC): Metal Change Core
* Weight: 3 grams

The Running Core of Death Gargoyle MS is Metal Change Core. This tip is built on a special type of angle. When the Beyblade is standing up straight, it rests on the sharp part of the tip and is in survival mode. Survival mode can spin for a very long time (over four minutes). When it is put onto an angle, it is in attack mode. Its movement speed in attack mode is very fast; the same as Metal Flat Core (Advance Striker). Also, this core is very short; the same height as Flat Core (Gaia Dragoon MS). This makes it very easy to use Upper Attack.

There are many ways to shoot this Beyblade. Into attack mode, into survival mode, survival to attack. One should experiment the different ways of it. One of the best ways to use this tip is with Sliding Shoot. This works great against Survival-type Beyblades. Death Gargoyle MS will zoom around the stadium, striking through the center every time. This will hit Survival-type Beyblades hard. Also, movement speed in this form is between attack mode and survival mode. It is balanced out. It will have good attack and survival at once.

Overall
Death Gargoyle MS was the first HMS Beyblade to be released with an AR focused entirely on upper attack. To this day, Death Gargoyle MS continues to be one of the strongest Beyblades ever made. Its AR has fine use for attack customizations. Its RC is good for Balance-types and Compacts. Also, this Beyblade is great for training shooting techniques. All Beybladers have to have this Beyblade. It will be enjoyed by any kind of player.
Attack Ring (AR): Upper Dragoon
* Weight: 7 grams

Upper Dragoon is the best AR for right spin upper attack (if you want left spin upper attack, please see Dranzer GT's Triangle Wing). Just from looking at it, you can see why this is. This AR has slopes that slant upwards to lift the opposing Beyblade off of the stadium floor. When this occurs, the opposing Beyblade has almost no defense ability. They can take critical damage from this, and can be knocked out of the stadium. The slopes are also very long, making it more likely to have a successful upper attack.

Use in Attack Customization
For upper attack to be successful, the slope of Upper Dragoon must be able to reach below the opposing Beyblade. Because of this, using a low BB will make the attack effective against more Beyblades. The lowest BB available is Dragoon S's Storm Grip Base. Combining these two parts, you can make an upper attacker that will repeatedly hit the opponent, reducing its survival ability and possibly knocking it out. Here is an example combo:

* AR: Upper Dragoon (Master Dragoon, Kid Dragoon)
* WD: 10-Heavy
* SG: Neo-Right SG
* SG Core: Heavy Metal Core (Takara Metal Driger)
* BB: Storm Grip Base (Dragoon S)

Use in Specialized Upper Attack Customization
A popular strategy with upper attack is to create a Beyblade that sits in the center of the stadium and allows the other Beyblade to come to it. When it makes contact, it will be lifted, dealt damage and tossed away until it moves back to the center again. This strategy leaves the opponent with nowhere to go, as the opposing Beyblade cannot make contact with you without damaging itself seriously.

This Beyblade combines attack, defense and survival very effectively. It is hard to knock out of the stadium due to its weight and round shape, has good survival and attacks effectively with Upper Dragoon.

* AR: Upper Dragoon (Master Dragoon, Kid Dragoon)
* WD: Wide Defense

Use in Defense Customization
Upper Dragoon is almost perfectly round and is one of the heavier ARs. It can be used to effectively add some attack ability to your defense-type Beyblade.
Overall
This Beyblade contains Upper Dragoon, the best AR for right spin upper attack. It has also found a home in defense and survival combos. All players must utilize upper attack successfully in order to win consistently, simply because it is such an effective form of attack. For that reason alone, there is no reason not to recommend this Beyblade. Every player should buy this Beyblade.
Attack Ring (AR): Upper Dragoon
* Weight: 7 grams

* WD: 10-Heavy
* SG: Neo-Right SG

* WD: Wide Defense
* SG: Right SG (Bearing Version) (Wolborg)
* SP: Defense Ring (Voltaic Ape)
* BB: Customize Grip Base (Dragoon V2)

Use in Defense Customization
Upper Dragoon is almost perfectly round and is one of the heavier ARs. It can be used to effectively add some attack ability to your defense-type Beyblade.

* AR: Upper Dragoon (Master Dragoon, Kid Dragoon)
* WD: Wide Defense
* SG: Neo-Right SG
* SG Core: Heavy Metal Core (Takara Metal Driger)
* BB: SG Metal Ball Base (Draciel S)

Elmo:

NOTE: This article is for plastic compact customization. For information on customizing an HMS compact Beyblade, see HMS Compact.

A compact combo is a Beyblade which has the purpose of high spin velocity and balance. The most important factors in building a compact combo are the weight distribution of the Beyblade, along with the size and shape of parts.

Advantages of Compact Combos
Compact combos gain their advantage from being incredibly effective balance types. Not only that, they are very literally balanced; they are not easy to knock off-center. They are a sort of all-purpose Beyblade that can be used when you are at a loss for what to do, or if you don't want to overthink a strategy.

Weight Distribution
To build an effective compact combo, the Beyblade needs to be relatively heavy, and have the majority of its weight focused in the center of the Beyblade. The advantage of having this weight focused in the center gives it an incredibly high spin velocity, which combined with the proper compact parts, leads to better balance and decreased loss of spin when hit.

Choice of Parts
The choice of parts for compact combos is incredibly polarized; meaning, while there are several possible parts you can use, the choice for best parts is incredibly small. Here is a list of parts that you should use for a compact combo.

Attack Rings
* Tiger Defenser (Driger S, Jumping Base): This is one of the best ARs for a compact combo. It has a very solid weight, great balance, and it is small in size. It has good survival ability and also some mild attack power. This is the most common choice.

* War Lion (Galeon, BBA Balancer): This is the next most common choice for compact ARs. It has much more survival along with being more compact, leading to a higher spin velocity and therefore, more defense. The downside of this is that this AR has very poor attacking power, which luckily isn't too detrimental to a compact Beyblade's effectiveness.

*Wing Cross (Bistool, Ultimate Frostic Dranzer, Gekiryu-oh): For the best performance, when choosing a Wing Cross AR for this combo, use Hasbro's Bistool. For more information on the mold variation, see the Bistool article. This AR is slightly less common and more recent to the scene than War Lion and Tiger Defenser, but it performs well. Wing Cross is one of the most balanced ARs available, and the Hasbro]] Bistool mold gives it more defense and survival ability.

Weight Disks
* 10-Heavy: This is the only WD you can use for a compact combo. It is the heaviest and smallest plastic-generation WD available.

Spin Gear
* Neo SG + Heavy Metal Core (Metal Driger): For compact combos, this is the only SG that you can use. You can see this part's advantage through this simple comparison:

* Neo SG + Heavy Metal Core: 9 grams
* Neo SG + Magnetic Core:6 grams
* Neo SG + Metal Weight Core: 5 grams
* SG: 4 grams

Even over the second heaviest core, Heavy Metal Core still has 3 grams more. That number may seem small, but keep in mind that it is 7% - 10% more weight. Also, it contributes to heavy weight in the center of the Beyblade. That's why Heavy Metal Core is a must-have part.

Blade Bases
* SG Semi-Flat: This is the most common BB for compact combos. As compacts are balance types, this BB gives the most balanced performance. A flat tip would sacrifice all of its spin velocity and survival ability, while a sharp tip would sacrifice its balance and defensive ability.

* Metal Ball Base (Draciel Metal Ball Defenser): This BB wasn't considered for a long time due to the fact that it is severely outdated, but it has a lot of potential in the compact arena. The metal balls in this base give it a good weight and strong centrifugal force, leading to a high spin velocity. Here are the weight measurements of this BB:

* Base Alone: 9 grams
* Metal Ball Base w/ one set of metal balls: 11 grams
* Metal Ball Base w/ two sets of metal balls (LEGAL): 13 grams

As you can see, even with one set of metal balls the weight is very good. With two sets, the weight is even higher, but the BB will lose some survival potential in the process.

The tip is a semi-flat, almost exactly the same shape as the SG Semi-Flat.

* Metal Change Base (Driger S): This BB isn't considered very often, due to its often aggressive movement pattern. However, it is a perfect choice for a compact combo. When standing straight, the metal tip has great survival. When tilted, the Beyblade will move in an attack mode. This strong survival and attack power take advantage of the compact combo's weight and spin velocity.

Sample Compact Combos
5-Layer Compact Combo
* AR: Tiger Defenser (Driger S)
* WD: 10-Heavy
* SG: Right Neo SG
* SG Core: Heavy Metal Core (Metal Driger)
* BB: SG Semi-Flat

This is one of the most common compact combos.

4-Layer Compact Combo
* AR: Wing Cross (Hasbro Bistool Mold)
* WD: 10-Heavy
* BB: Metal Ball Base (Draciel Metal Ball Defenser)

This combo was used by Noland to win the North American Championship.

Disadvantages of Compact Combos
There are some disadvantages to using a compact Beyblade.

* Balance Type: Being a balance type can be advantageous or disadvantageous depending on the situation. Against an incredibly specialized Beyblade, they may falter due to not having enough focus in the type necessary to win.

* Poor Survival: Compact Beyblades do not have the best survival, due to their heavy weight. Against attack and defense Beyblades, they will often manage very well. However, against a purely survival Beyblade, they will fail.

Using Compacts With Shooting Techniques
Compact combos a very well suited to a variety of shooting techniques.

* Sliding Shot: Compact combos already have a very strong movement pattern. Sliding shot encourages this pattern further, causing the Beyblade the roam the stadium at a decent speed. Making contact within the first few seconds of the battle after being shot will deliver considerable damage.

* Gattyaki: A compact combo has a very heavy weight. Gattyaki is designed to hit the opponent before hitting the stadium. This shot combined with a heavy Beyblade is very good for OHKO. Because the entire force of the Beyblade's weight is directed at the opponent directly after shooting, without being slowed down by the friction of the stadium, it is almost guaranteed to deal a critical hit if it makes contact. The disadvantage of this strategy is that Gattyaki is a very difficult shot to aim correctly and will often miss. Fortunately, unless you overshoot a drastic amount, missing the Gattyaki shot will not be too detrimental to your battle.

Conclusion
Compact combos have been a staple in Beyblade play for a long time, and they're not going anywhere. They're strong and easy to use, and even in the hands of an unexperienced player they can win matches with ease. If your opponent is using a Beyblade that is not well planned, this is a good style of Beyblade to use to avoid over-thinking a match.
* Weight: 6 grams
War Monkey is a double layered attack ring with the second layer being free-spinning Sub Ring. It is primary used is for defense type combinations because it has the shape of a circle which is good . War Monkey's Sub Ring is parallel in shape to the AR, but has a different use. Since it spins freely, it can act as shock absorbers, in combination with the AR, allowing it to take harder blows while preventing KO.
Attack Ring (AR): War Lion
* Weight: 6 grams

The AR of Galeon, War Lion, is the prized part of this Beyblade. Although one of the earliest released ARs, it still sees major use years after its release. This AR has both great defense and survival properties. Because the AR is so small, it has a tendency to have a high spin velocity, which is perfect for defense types.

However, this AR's survival properties are the most important. The AR is almost perfectly round, which gives it great survival because there are very few points of contact at which the recoil would be strong. However, the true secret to War Lion's survival capability is in its S-AR. When War Lion is hit and the free-spinning S-AR recieves the hit, the Beyblade will recieve almost no damage. This is because when the S-AR is hit, only the free-spinning S-AR is hit with the opposing force, while the rest of the Beyblade continues to spin unhindered.

Use in Survival/Zombie Customization
As discussed above, War Lion has great survival potential due to its round shape and free-spinning S-AR. The small projections protruding from War Lion can also steal spin effectively. The round shape of the AR will not interfere with life after death. You can make a great survival-type combo with War Lion. Here is an example:

* AR: War Lion (Galeon)
* S-AR: War Lion (Galeon)
* WD: Wide Survivor
* SG: Left SG (Bearing Version) (Wolborg)
* SG Shaft: Bearing Base (Metal Dragoon Bearing Stinger)
* BB: Defense Grip Base 2 (Wolborg 2)

Use in Defense + Survival Customization
Although War Lion has great survival potential, its defense ability is strong as well. To outspin an attack type Beyblade, you need good defense. Here is an example combo that can be used to beat an attack Beyblade:

* AR: War Lion (Galeon)
* S-AR: War Lion (Galeon)
* WD: Wide Defense
* SG: Left SG (Bearing Version 2) (Wolborg 2)
* BB: Defense Grip Base 2 (Wolborg 2)

Use in Defense Customization
As discussed above, War Lion has great defense potential due to its round, small shape. This shape results in a higher spin velocity. Also, the S-AR can prevent powerful recoil. You can make a great defense-type combo with War Lion. Here is an example:

* AR: War Lion (Galeon)
* S-AR: War Lion (Galeon)
* WD: Wide Defense
* SG: Neo-Right
* SG Core: Heavy Metal Core (Takara Metal Driger)
* BB: SG Metal Ball Base (Draciel S)

Use in Compact Customization
War Lion has a round and small shape. Because of this, it can achieve a high spin velocity. While this is good for defense combos, it is also good for compact combos. Here is an example:

* AR: War Lion (Galeon)
* S-AR: War Lion (Galeon)
* WD: Ten Heavy
* SG: Neo-Right
* SG Core: Heavy Metal Core (Takara Metal Driger)
* BB: SG Semi-Flat

As you will notice, this combo is the same basic concept as an uncustomized Galeon. However, it improves on the most basic functions to produce a great Beyblade.

Weight Disk (WD): 8-Heavy
See 8-Heavy.

Blade Base (BB): SG Semi-Flat
See SG Semi-Flat.

Other Versions
* BBA Balancer
* Galeon - Phantom Force Version

Overall
Galeon follows an interesting trend of older Beyblades having some of the most useful part. Perhaps it is because that Beyblade was at its purest, most strategic form then (which HMS made an attempt to return to). Aside from that, however, Galeon is still a great Beyblade. Even uncustomized, it can be used to good results. However, the really great point of Galeon is its AR, War Lion. This AR can be used in modern combos as one of the best ARs available. With great defense and survival potential, every player should own multiples of this Beyblade.
